We all have some limitations as a result of our lineage. The key is to recognize what they are and work toward improving ourselves. Hard work and dedication always pays off.
We are an extension of our parents and ancestors. The beauty of growing up in a multigenerational community is the collective heart and strength we bear. The world needs this, individualism and collectivism require a balance. We need each other yet a culture that spreads keep your boundaries build walls is rising, this avoids conflict, restricts engagement. We need not be afraid of conflict and more curious about repair. As a first gen Mexican, it is such a privilege to be able to feel and heal what my parents couldn’t, they endured the back breaking labor I and generations after me won’t ever have to, so with eagerness I’ll engage in our shadow work, for me and for them. Thank you for this piece.
Very well expressed Abhinav. A few thoughts about your post:
We have come through our parents, not from them. So, we respect our parents for whatever they have done to raise us to what we are now. We are here because of them, so owe them our life.
But at the same time, we have our individual existence and we have to become what we are destined to become.
The problem is this individuality is combined with our inherited or borrowed genetics. So, it's always a fight between expressing what you inherited from them and who you really are.
The challenge is to love them unconditionally without a tinge of blame yet not allowing them to live through us so that we can become what we really are. It's a delicate balance of love and individuality. If we lose the balance, we will blame either them or ourselves. So, balance is the key.
i always enjoy reading your comments! thank you for being a regular reader and supporting me 🥺❤️
i get what you mean; how much of who i am is my parents contribution? and do i contribute something to who my parents are? how much contribution is too much contribution, till you end up losing your individuality?
You are not here to fix what came before you, nor to surpass it like a race to the summit. You are the continuation of a story, not its correction. Your parents gave you what they could, and what they couldn’t give became the soil where your own roots deepen. Their shortcomings do not limit your heights; they are simply part of the landscape you rise from.
wow... the timing of this

this feels like it was taken from my Sunday afternoon fever dream- resonates way too much :')

You are enough 🫶🏾
Loved you post. Maybe I wasn’t born to surpass them maybe I was born to heal what they couldn’t.

Yeah, basically juggling between karmic and genetic influences to eventually going beyond both to become the best version of yourself.
And yeah, I love the way you express things and your topics resonate with me. Keep inspiring brother ☺️👏
I needed this and I didn't even know it
